Well another school year is almost here...where do we begin? With Sunday Morning Gatherings, Wednesday Night Bible Study, once a month road trip activities, service projects, retreats, mission trips, lock-ins...
Every one of those things are available for you this year at St. Mary's Church. Take a few minutes to read the weekly bulletin, monthly newsletter or the snail mail I send to you. It really is important or I wouldn't be wasting my time writing it all!
On another related point - I just finished reading a book entitled: SOUL SEARCHING: The Religious and Spiritual Lives of American Teenagers. To be honest -- I want to cry! Let me quote, "compared both to official Catholic norms of faithfulness and to other types of Christian teens in the United States, contemporary U.S. Catholic teens are faring rather badly. On most measures of religious faith, belief, experience, and practice, Catholic teens as a whole show up as fairly week."
I hope this is as embarassing to you as it is to me! HELP me change it for the better -- at least here at St. Mary's - Marne. There is nothing, I repeat, NOTHING that is more important than your relationship to God through His Church! This garbage about I am a 'spiritual' person just not a 'religious' person is ridiculous. None of us can live without other people and none of us can grow in our spirituality without the insights of other people.
Most of you know my favorite spot in the Bible - 1 Corinthians 12-14. This is the "One Body though Many Parts" writing of Paul. In it he says that we ALL make up the Body of Christ. Without YOU my Body is incomplete!
See you soon!

My Orders From Pope Benedict XVI
The order has come directly from Pope Benedict XVI himself that we start this blog. Part of his message on the World Day of Communications 2009 was, "These technologies are truly a gift to humanity and we must endeavour to ensure that the benefits they offer are put at the service of all human individuals and communities, especially those who are most disadvantaged and vulnerable."
He continues, "I would encourage all people of good will who are active in the emerging environment of digital communication to commit themselves to promoting a culture of respect, dialogue and friendship."
So here it goes...St. Mary's for what shall I blog?
